About
Kayla is a current master’s student in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University with a concentration in Spirituality & Mind-Body Practice. She also works as a Research Assistant at NYU Langone medical center’s Integrative Medicine department and teaches yoga, meditation classes, and mindful living workshops around NYC
She previously worked as a product manager at IBM in the Watson Health unit, creating Population Health software for US hospital systems. She is a recent graduate of Duke University, where she explored health and healing through her Public Health courses by day while deepening her own connection to inner healing and consciousness through yoga, meditation, and Buddhist philosophy, by night. Fascinated by the role of the mind in our subjective experience of pathology and healing, she is focused on investigating the neurophysiology and therapeutic potential of contemplative practices, spiritual experiences, behavior change, and human connection in improving lives.
Outside of her studies, she is a passionate photographer and a registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher. Her camera and yoga/meditation practice are constantly introducing her to new people, ideas, and a deeper connection with our world.
